Fundamentals of Creativity for Transformational Innovations

Art & Technology

We marry the extremes of arts and technology through creativity and innovations that focus the application of subjects like composition, media arts, and digital transformation on conceptualization and production of actual products. The different schools and institutions focus research on people, their communities, and innovations that will improve the quality of life.  we examine the subject of creativity and digital transformation from different fields. First, we look at the rules of composition based on how the rules or principles are defined around communication facets that introduce distortions and bias into data. Secondly, we look at art by drawing examples from fashion design, the most globally impactful sector of arts and culture. We will examine the approaches used by the sector to keep people spellbound in expectation of what is coming next, four to eight times every year. Third, we will look at the impact of digital transformation as a people-driven solution that combines natively with arts to improve creativity, innovation, and inventions.

The original title of this course is art and technology where we examine the subject of creativity and digital transformation from different fields. Educators will develop a repository of themes they will use in classrooms to help students become innovators and inventors using relative generational artifacts like colors to establish parity of esteem across geographies for example, between Massachusetts and California.

While the fashion sectors within the arts and culture industry hold their global audience spellbound in expectations, digital transformation device manufacturers with access to data and the technology to make sense of it are failing to, this has resulted in a massive backlash against 5G technology. The tech industry approach to technology innovation in areas of speed and size is the same in the areas of user interface and user experience, the result is that power users use less than 10% of the functionality of their mobile devices before they are replaced by new ones. Learners will develop mastery of thinking creatively by using design tools important to the mastery of User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design.

Composition is about knowing how to use and combine elements of creativity to invoke likeness or love. Our sub-conscience tells us what to like, while we love what we know or have seen before and hate what we don’t know. Digital transformation technology is a powerful filter to connect to things we are comfortable with and I posed these two questions at the heart of this subject matter in this program introduction. (1) Should we only seek data that fit our current understanding of the world? (2) How do the cognitive limitations associated with the actual representation of reality impact knowing-how? These two questions will be dealt with extensively in this course.

What is familiar is known, which comes with comfort that gives rise to attractiveness. Unfamiliar or unknown comes with discomfort.

Knowing and understanding what we feel tells our brains to relax and have a sense of pleasure. The unknown creates fear, which leads to mental discomfort, danger, fear, and dislike. At the end of the day, these are just chemicals produced in our brain to create different feelings and emotions in relation to the feelings we recount outside.

What is Beauty?

Beauty is a visual aesthetic notion of something we consider beautiful because it is familiar. While analyzing any face we consider beautiful we can assess the following:

How long is the face and how wide is the face

The ratio between forehead, nose, mouth, eyes, eyebrows, upper and lower lips, and chin in relation to other elements.

Beauty is thus based on the principle of familiarity, something that we know and we recognize. Beauty is combining all elements of the face into one image that lead to the following definition:

Beauty is the combination of familiar elements that make up a composition.

Composition is the arrangement of several elements together based on a rule. The rule of composition must be easily identifiable without any confusion. However, traditionally these are the rules we have always believed in, but today digital transformation is based on a different rule of ‘If not This, Then That (IFTTT). This rule of inertia and motion has always been with us as the driver of energy in composition that exposes the cultural and time-lapse within a piece of art. The traditional composition rules are:

Symmetry: Centrality, Order, Power, and Authority such as left is equal to right, the top is equal to the bottom, made popular by architectural design

Rhythm and Repetition: Repetition is having one element duplicate itself several times in the same position with a specific step. Repetition is liked by our brain because we know what is coming.

Golden Ratio or The Rule of Thirds: Split an image horizontally into three sections and place the points of attraction either on one intersection point or on the line defining the thirds.

Balance: The sense of balance in a design or an image is to create a sense of stability, peace, or harmony to avoid the dynamism of tension.

Lines: lines are a powerful visual aid that is important to leading the eyes from one point to another. Lines are used to expressing depth or volume in different shapes or forms. Lines may draw the viewer’s eyes to a point of convergence to highlight an element, create a sense of perspective and generate interest. Digital transformation intelligent algorithms draw their effectiveness from pattern recognition and use lines to make sense of their inferences.

Dominance: Assumes all compositions should have a dominant presence that is clear to everyone. For example, food is a composition of ingredients in which a cook combines their elements and allows one or a group (spices) to have dominance in the composition. We will explore certain Digital Transformation rules that will show us that if the food is well cooked the dominant spices blend to create harmony.

Space: A composition is a visual structure imposed on an artistic expression by a defined space that involves the arrangement of visual elements within a defined space. All good compositions tell a story about a subject to entice an audience’s emotions by drawing them visually into the creative expression. A composition employs the creative to impose their expression on a given subject through an invitation to how he/she sees the world.

Business Case – Enzo of Milanese, Italy

Enzo of Milanese, Italy is a local shoemaker with over 45 years of shoe-making experience. He makes shoes that set fashion trends throughout the four seasons globally every year. Every evening Enzo dresses up with his wife to attend local lounges and bars events with friends. If a pair of shoes won by an individual caught his eyes, Enzo will walk up to chat with the person to know if they are residents of Milanese or visitors, and engage them in a discussion about the fruits, vegetables, food, and cakes of Milanese with special emphasis on their changing colors, weather, and important characteristic connections worthy of note.

In spring 2011, Enzo made a two-tone lime-green and light-Grey men’s Oxfords that over 40% of global shoe-making factories produced for the world market in various forms and shapes. In an interview that summer, Enzo was asked how he makes his design choices that become global success every season. “Designing for the season according to him was inspired by his passion for ‘Fiori di Zucca ripieni’, the irresistible blend of flavors of zucchini blossoms that is stuffed and fried with melted mozzarella and the delightful bite of the meal’s anchovy.”

fiori di zucca ripieni

“Winter fruits were around in April,” he said. This, according to him, means ‘Fiori di Zucca ripieni’ will blossom in late May, with the rain arriving late it will stay stronger in flower stands into mid to late summer and the color will triangulate into the deep connection people will have with their shoes throughout the spring and summer. Enzo’s summer design that year arrived in mid-summer, it was a pair of deep yellow shoes depicting the late (after 3 days) stages of the plant in a bouquet of flowers.

“I design shoes for the people of Milanese and Italy to make their life exciting and full of expectations, if the rest of the world likes my designs, it means they share my passion for my community and shoes.”

Enzo has found a way to connect with his community and the world has found a way to connect with Enzo and his community season-after-season.

Why have programs, creators, and innovators failed to connect with communities like Enzo through his designs? By developing the mindfulness to connect to his Milanese people with empathy and embedding the natural rules of creativity through unstated principles and elements of design, Enzo’s shoes speak to millions of people four times every year. Enzo has no formal education but started making shoes as an apprentice to his father and through Verio Cuoio’s real leather standards he believes his shoes can be won by anyone on the planet based on universal sizing.

Learners will develop mastery of engagement, special feelings, mindfulness, and empathy for application in User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design, as well as a host of other applications resulting in the mastery of creativity, innovation, and invention.

Including technology tools like light-room, in-design, and Davinci used by creatives to make their work come alive.

Front-end developers understand the importance of a visually appealing and easy-to-navigate user interface, while also expecting the user experience such as product recommendations based on previous purchases or a recent online search to be unsurpassed.

As a Skills4Industry, empathy standards help individuals develop mastery of managing assumptions and experiences using learned tools to improve proficiencies in observation, data capture, analytics, and statistics.

The first stage in the creative process is engaging with your community without filters that inhibit the development of the special feeling of empathy that conveys the emotions of help, improvement, and making a difference. Through this mindset, digital transformation technology becomes a solution for people, not customers, or power users.

Visual elements stored in websites such as typography, icons, color scheme, and the like can be referenced by designers. The application of design language brings consistency to the chaos created by multiple colors and images without connection to user-market

UI designers, for example, add emotions to user interfaces through navigational frames, imaging, colors, and fonts, learners will develop mastery of tools like Sketch to create rich designs.

Small design elements like animations are increasingly added to design to improve user experience, especially those generated from content streams. Delivering a whole user experience that has precision in dramatically increasing overall user connection to a brand through customer experience. UI designers are looked to when special needs individuals must be taken care of to achieve fair and equitable access to technology through help provided to those with disabilities. These are decisions educators deal with daily on the job to ensure equitable access to learning.

UI and UX must work in sync because a choice of a button can make or break a software project, while you can double your customers by changing a single color that is generationally balanced with what they are familiar with. Powerful images can dramatically capture emotion and result in connection with the audience when UI and UX are paired together nicely to improve business value.

The ability to increase brand value using the right colors and images to pull in the audience is making design language highly valued. While Enzo of Milanese does not need further education, educational institutions need Enzo to be able to inextricably link his artistic abilities to exit credentials to help Samsung, Google, Apple and the like innovate user experiences.
